" A dedicated practice
of spreading love
through art."
As an artist, my practice is fully inspired by the earth under my feet. I have fallen in love with mimicking the world's beauty through functional ceramic vessels. Purchasing a piece of my heart's work will give you a piece of my love and passion for life.
Thank you for stopping in to take a look.

About the artist- Cheyenne Sturgeon
In my work I bring attention to the textures, colors, and shapes that are found in nature through mimicking different concepts and themes. With a tendency to explore different trout scales, wildflowers, mountain scapes, and the elements of the forest. My main techniques are the study of layering underglazes, as well as the subtractive method of carving definitive details onto functional work.
My ceramic practice is based around the dedication of spreading love through art. When I first began creating functional ceramic art, and still to this day it is an essential part to healthy mental health. I am incredibly passionate about the positive impact of creating with clay, and how it can impact youth, and adults during difficult times in life.
Through teaching for the City of Red Deer’s Arts and Culture program I feel that I am able to truly embody that statement. I am privileged to work with kids as well as adults in expressing themselves with functional and sculptural art. I find the most pure forms of joy in the classroom watching students grasp, and grow with their ceramic understanding. More importantly their personal confidence, and sense of creativity. As an artist and a mental health advocate I aspire to share the healing outlet, and intricate process of ceramics in the classroom for as long as I am able. My life’s dream of one day owning my own teaching facility that helps support mental health programs and youth in my community.
Thank you for your support or interest in my heart’s work.
Lots of love, Cheyenne

"The world is so rich in color, texture and expression I find myself in constant admiration for every detail. If I could be so lucky, I will spend a life time mimicking it’s beauty.” - Cheyenne Sturgeon
